Chapter 10 -- Using Public Folders

Chapter 10

Sharing information is a powerful means of facilitating workgroups and teams. When members of a team are located in geographically distant locations, the ability to share information is even more important. Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server offers that powerful groupware foundation through its implementation of public folders.

In Chapter 9 you learned how to create and manage three of the four basic types of Exchange recipients: users, groups, and contacts. This chapter covers the fourth type of recipient: the public folder. To begin our look at the shared storage architecture of an Exchange Server system, this chapter explores how a user views shared storage and describes how to create, manage, replicate, store, and access public folders in an Exchange organization.
