Recipient management is one of the core functions of many Exchange administrators. Short of some daily monitoring and running your backups, recipient management will be the task that consumes most of your Exchange bandwidth. Day-to-day recipient management includes the following:
Mailbox management
Resource mailbox management
Mail-enabled group management
Contact management
As you get started with Exchange 2007, you will probably be more dependent on the Exchange Management Console for recipient management. Most all tasks you will need to perform can be performed through the graphical user interface. As you get more comfortable with the GUI, though, we urge you to start learning more about the Exchange Management Shell. Combining some of the EMS cmdlets with PowerShell scripting capabilities can help to speed up many of the common tasks that you perform, such as bulk recipient creation and management.
