How to Use TED with ZENworks for Desktops

The TED engine in ZENworks for Servers is comprised of Distributor, Subscriber, and Proxy agents hosted on NetWare, Linux, Solaris, and Windows servers throughout your tree. When you install ZENworks for Servers, the installation program creates Distributor and Subscriber objects for the TED agents that you install on each server.

Once you have installed TED, you can configure and manage the TED objects from ConsoleOne. This makes it easier to distribute files by grouping them into data packages (distributions) and hosting them in distribution channels made up of Distributor and Subscriber objects. You can add Application objects to the TED system as data packages by using the Desktop Application Distribution wizard to create a Desktop Application Distribution object.

TED then transfers the Desktop Application Distribution object from single or multiple sources to the subscriber server nodes in the distribution channel. This enables you to schedule distributions to take advantage of off-peak hours. It also sends notification of distribution statuses by sending e-mail messages, displaying real-time messages, logging events, database reporting, or sending SNMP traps.
