The GroupWise directory is fairly flexible in allowing you to work with multiple GroupWise systems. The decision to merge systems rather than simply synchronizing them is one for you to make. There are advantages and disadvantages to each approach. Chapter 16 talks about Internet addressing, which enables another means for communicating effortlessly with other email systems on the Internet. There are a few advantages to merging systems: They include synchronization between domains automatically and require no additional configuration. They include a single primary domain database, which allows for central administration. Distributed administration is possible. Merging systems does, however, have its disadvantages. These include adding the necessity for some degree of central administration. This might not be appropriate for some organizations. Additionally, the larger the system is, the more crowded the address book becomes. |
