Before you select colors, you should have a basic understanding of how Paint Shop Pro determines colors. Although there are several methods or models, Paint Shop Pro uses two main ways to define color: RGB and HSL.
RGB stands for Red, Green, and Blue, the colors used by most monitors and video output devices. If you're old enough, you might remember when you had to adjust your TV color because the people's faces were too red or too green. You were working with RGB settings. All colors on the screen, whether on your television or computer screen, are a combination of red, blue, and green.
The second color model, HSL, illustrates Hue, Saturation, and Lightness. HSL uses RGB values but allows you, the user , to modify the RGB values even further.
Hue. The shade or tint of an RGB color.
Saturation. The amount of grey in a hue. The higher saturation produces more vivid color, whereas a lower saturation produces more gray.
Lightness. The quantity of light in a color. The higher the lightness value, the whiter the image becomes. At a low value, the image becomes darker or black.
