Writing this book was the ultimate team effort. If you don't believe it, just check the list of bios ”we had a cast of thousands. My task was to write, edit, and keep track of what everyone else was doing. It was a little like trying to herd cats.

An enormous debt of gratitude goes out to Theresa Gheen and Linda Laflamme at New Riders. You guys held my hand and egged me on. I couldn't have gotten through this without your patience. To my fellow Figs: You are the most talented and amazing group of people I've ever been lucky enough to work with. To all the writers and artists who participated in the development of the book, I am eternally grateful that you didn't strangle me, even when I know you really wanted to. Even those of you who didn't contribute directly to the book effort certainly helped the rest of us maintain some semblance of mental health.

A huge thanks to my husband Wick, who has been incredible throughout this. Even when my office mates were threatening to make me wear a name tag home, just so he'd remember who I was, he always remembered on his own. Thanks, dear, for not mistaking me for an intruder on those many late nights! We finally can take that kayaking trip.
