CONFIGURING, CUSTOMIZING, AND TROUBLESHOOTING OUTLOOK EXPRESS

     
  1. Outlook Express is the default email and newsgroup client installed with Internet Explorer.

  2. When creating a new email account in Outlook Express, you need to provide the email address associated with your account as well as the name of the incoming (POP) and outgoing (SMTP) mail servers.

  3. By default, Outlook Express connects to the Internet using the settings configured in Internet Explorer.

  4. You can configure Outlook Express to leave a copy of all messages on the incoming mail server.

  5. If users are unable to send or receive email, verify that the settings configured for their email accounts match those of the mail servers.

  6. You can configure Outlook Express to read newsgroups available on a news server. If users are unable to view newsgroups on a news server, verify that correct parameters have been entered.

  7. For virus protection, Outlook Express 6 can be configured to block attachments that may contain a virus.
