TIP 125: Exporting Internal Styles

Sometimes you'll create some really nice internal styles that you decide would work well on other pages. You could copy and paste the source code from page to page, but there must be an easier way, right? It's easy to export an internal style sheet with the CSS Editor.

Importing External Styles

Using the same menus, you can import external styles just like you export internal styles. It's a two-way street.

Follow these steps to learn how to export an internal style sheet:

1.

Open the page with the internal style sheet.

2.

Select File > Export > Internal Style Sheet….

3.

Name and save the new .css file. If you intend to use it in the site you are currently working in, click Root folder from the Site pull-down menu in the Save dialog. This will automatically choose the root folder of your site.

Another way to export an internal style sheet to a separate file is to select Export Internal CSS from the flyout menu of an internal style sheet, as seen in Figure 125.
