TIP 124: Applying External CSS to Multiple Pages

If you're creating a new site with CSS, you'll probably assign an external CSS file to your template pages or create a default CSS file for the site (see Tip 119). But if you have an old site that isn't based on templates, the prospect of retrofitting it with CSS can be pretty daunting. Fortunately, GoLive makes it really easy to apply an external style sheet to multiple pages at one time with the CSS palette. Follow these three easy steps:

Point and Shoot Power

You can also use the Point and Shoot tool in the CSS palette to attach an external CSS file to multiple pages. Select multiple pages, grab the Pick Whip tool in the CSS palette, and point to the .css file in the Files tab of the Site window.

1.

Select the Web pages in the Files tab of the Site window. You can even select files in multiple and nested folders (see Tip 23 about selecting files).

2.

Open the CSS palette from the Window menu if it's not already available.

3.

Click and hold the New Link button in the CSS palette to choose the .css file you want to attach to all the selected pages (Figure 124). This pull-down menu is automatically populated with all the .css files in the active Site window.
