Management is a diverse and complex topic. Additionally, the storage industry is currently undergoing widespread evolution with regard to management technologies and techniques. For example, disparate management tools, each designed for a specific purpose, are converging into holistic tools that provide enterprise-wide management. Therefore, this chapter seeks only to provide readers with an overview of the management concepts and protocols relevant to modern storage networks. This chapter covers both legacy and modern protocols.
