A lot of times, complex animation or editing programs come with a cool reference sheet that lists all the important keyboard shortcuts to help you learn. When you've practiced enough with the program and become familiar with the keys, you can put the reference sheet away and go about your business. I'm a big fan of these sheets, as you can pin them up right by your computer until you are comfortable. Unfortunately Macromedia doesn't provide you with this sheet.
I recommend you make your own if you're just starting out. Go to Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts (Flash MX > Preferences on Mac) and look through the defaults, writing down all the combinations that you use most often. Now you have your own customized sheet without all the keys you never use. Hey, you should be an author!
