Creating Range Names from Worksheet Labels

You can also create range names using the column and row labels that you have created for your worksheet. The row labels are used to create a range name for each row of cells, and the column labels are used to create a range name for each column of cells . Follow these steps:

  1. Select the worksheet, including the column and row labels.

  2. Select the Insert menu, point at Name , and then select Create . The Create Names dialog box appears (see Figure 11.3).

  3. Click in the check boxes that define the position of the row and column labels in the worksheet.

  4. After specifying the location of the row and column labels, click OK .

You can check the range names (and their range of cells) that were created using the Create Name feature in the Define Name dialog box. Select Insert , point at Name , and then select Define . All the range names that you created appear in the Names in Workbook list.
