Who Should Read This Book

Windows Vista Security: Securing Vista Against Malicious Attacks is intended to teach something to administrators at every level, but is optimized for those with a little bit of experience in administering Windows. While a beginning administrator can easily implement any of the discussed techniques, it helps to have a firm foundation of Windows basic fundamentals, especially as they apply in Windows 2000 or later, before reading any book of this nature. While each chapter covers the major topics from the beginning forward, some related topics, such as TCP/IP, are not intended to be the focus of this book and will not be discussed in totality. Other huge topics, such as group policy, focus on the additions and changes as they relate to Windows Vista.
