10.32 Daily Tracking and Management

 < Day Day Up >

If your project is tracked consistently, your people will expect things to go according to plan. If you are remiss in your duties to check on the progress daily, they will become remiss in their duties to perform tasks too. You can never let your guard down on showing your involvement in every aspect of the project. So you have six groups performing concurrent tasks in six different parts of the enterprise campus. That translates into at least six meetings a day to keep up on the progress. It is true that during the course of task completion, some groups will need more time and attention than others, but if you let up, the others will feel they fulfill a lesser role in the project and act accordingly. Your dedication and diligence will show through, and they will see that you lead projects by setting a strong example. Bottom line: If you don’t let up, they won’t either, and that mitigates pain.
