8.1 Software Transition Plan (SWTP)

 < Day Day Up >

The Software Transition Plan transitions the software from the development phase to the user support phase. It should include plans for handing off the server and user support to the appropriate departments in the organization. It is an outline of how to transfer the entire system to a state of production environment operations. The plan should verify that all of the system elements are successfully transferred into production libraries. The plan should ensure that the various system manuals are distributed to the official user and systems department representatives. The recipient of the system must turn on or stand up the production system and verify if its level of operability is adequate. Then, the system will be turned over to the users for their use. When applicable, this plan will include provisions for turning off the old system. A last step should be completion of a production systems migration report.
