Gateway –
An electronic repeater device that intercepts and steers electrical signals from one network to another. In data networks, gateways are typically a node that connects two otherwise incompatible networks and often perform code and protocol conversion processes.
GIF (Graphics Interface Format) –
A format for encoding images into bits so a computer can read the file and display the image on a computer screen.
gTLD (generic Top Level Domain) –
A small set of top-level domains that do not carry a national identifier, but denote the intended function of that portion of the domain space. For example, .com was established for commercial users and .org for not-for-profit organizations.
GUI (Graphical User Interface) pronounced “gooey” –
A program with a graphical interface that can take advantage of a computer’s graphics capabilities thereby making the program easier to use.
