Chapter 19. Tempo Map, Metronome, Sync, and MIDI

The VS-2480's Tempo Map allows you to create an outline of the basic rhythmic structure in your project. Using MIDI messages, Tempo Map information can be shared with other MIDI devices that will allow them to synchronize to the VS-2480. Many drum machines and synthesizers have the ability to replay sequenced performances under the command of the VS-2480. It is possible to add these live sound sources to the mix via the Input Mixer, freeing up additional recording tracks.

Plan Ahead!

Recordings that are synchronized to the VS-2480's Tempo Map are easier to edit because the VS-2480 can locate to precise measures and beats. You can easily take exactly one measure and copy it to cover a mistake in a corresponding measure somewhere else in the project. If the edit is not clean after the copy, you can quickly switch to .WAV view, observe the edit points, and use the Phrase Trim functions to adjust the edit points without changing the timing.
