TIP 31: Customizing the Document Status Bar

The status bar at the bottom of a document in the Layout Editor offers single-click access to several convenient features (Figure 31a). Starting on the left side and working our way across, these options include:

  • Show/hide split source: This toggles the Split Source view and is also available in the View menu (see Tip 35).

  • Zoom Out: Zooms out on the current page to the next zoom preset (see Tip 32).

  • Zoom Value: Select a preset zoom value from the pull-down menu (see Tip 32).

  • Zoom In: Zooms in on the current page to the next zoom preset (see Tip 32).

  • View Configuration/Page Dimensions/Document Statistics: Three options share this area. To select an option, click and hold the arrow and select the option from the Show menu. View Configuration lets you orient the page for Web or mobile development. Page Dimensions lets you create and choose presets for the document window dimensions (see Tip 33). Document Statistics shows the number of bytes the page uses.

  • Markup Tree: The Markup Tree allows you to logically navigate the structure of your source code while in the Layout Editor (see Tip 34).

  • Switch line break mode: Changes the line breaks of the current page between Mac, UNIX, and Windows formats. This setting is also available under File > Line Breaks.

You might use some of these features more then others, so GoLive lets you customize the status bar to your preference. You can toggle all these features, as well as some status bar options related to PDF preview, in the document flyout menu (Figure 31b).
