With the dramatic improvements to the OWA client functionality and look and feel, the need to deploy a robust and reliable Exchange Server 2003 OWA environment has become more acute. Building OWA support directly into each Exchange Server enables this functionality, but the security of the system can be questionable, as many exploits take advantage of Web services. With the concept of Exchange front-end/back-end technology, however, the security and flexibility of OWA can be achieved. By proxying OWA requests , front-end servers give a greater degree of design freedom and protect the valuable data stored in the mailboxes on the back-end servers. Consequently, when designing an Exchange Server 2003 environment, keep these factors in mind to take full advantage of the capabilities of OWA. |
