Making Final Changes and Adding the Soundtrack

What's an action-adventure style opening (or even a parody of it) without an exciting soundtrack? On the DVD supplied with this book we have just the thing, a tense track from the TwistedTracks folks called MinorReleaseL2.mp3. Before we add our music, we need to make a minor adjustment to a couple of clips. The default location for both the PiP 40% UR and the PiP 40% UL is just a bit too low, so that when the sanfran.avi and urban.avi clips first appear, they cover up our digital clock. Fortunately, this is easy to fix.

Adjust the Upper Left and Right PiPs

Click the sanfran.avi clip in the upper right corner of the Monitor panel.

In the Properties panel, click the triangle next to Motion to reveal the effect's controls.

Adjust the vertical Position of the PiP (the second number in the pair) to 115.

Repeat Steps 1 through 3 for the urban.avi clip in the upper left corner of the Monitor screen.

Add the Soundtrack

Click the Available Media button on the Media panel to switch to the Available Media view.

Drag the MinorReleaseL2.mp3 clip from the Media panel onto the Audio 2 track on the Timeline.

Important

Be sure that the start (head) of the MinorReleaseL2.mp3 clip is at the very beginning of the Audio 2 track.

Drag the MinorReleaseL2.mp3 clip a second time from the Media panel onto the Audio 2 track on the Timeline. Position the clip so that it touches the end of the MinorReleaseL2.mp3 clip already on the Timeline, as shown in the illustration.

On the Properties panel for the second MinorReleaseL2.mp3 clip, click the Fade Out button under the Volume control.
