Appendix D.  Language Resources


The process known as upsizing is the conversion of an Access database into a SQL Server database. You can upsize your database by following the steps outlined next:

  1. Open the database you wish to upsize within Access and select Upsizing Wizard from the Database Utilities submenu of Tools, as shown in Figure D.1.

  2. The Upsizing Wizard dialog box appears. Select the network location of your SQL Server installation as well as the name for the database, as shown in Figure D.2.

  3. Add all the tables that you want to convert into the new format, as shown in Figure D.3.

  4. Specify all necessary table attributes including options for Indexes, Validation, and Table Relationships. It may be best to stick with the defaults as shown in Figure D.4.

  5. Selecting Finish will begin the conversion process, as shown in Figure D.5.

  6. Open your copy of SQL Server Enterprise Manager and view the newly converted database. The results should look similar to Figure D.6.
