Before You Begin

To complete the lessons in this chapter, you must have:

• A computer that meets or exceeds the minimum hardware and software requirements listed in the Introduction at the beginning of this book.

• Microsoft SQL Server 2005 installed, as well as the SQL Server 2005 AdventureWorks sample database.

• Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, Microsoft Visual C# 2005 Express Edition, or Microsoft Visual Basic Express Edition installed.

• Experience designing and working with databases in SQL Server 2005. You should know which tools are provided with SQL Server 2005, such as SQL Server Management Studio and SQL Server Configuration Manager.

• Experience installing an instance of SQL Server 2005 and a basic understanding of how to configure network libraries.

• A basic understanding of creating and consuming Web services.

• Experience creating Windows-based applications using Visual Studio 2005.
