GAIN THE RESPECT OF THE PROJECT TEAM

Despite all of your efforts to motivate the team and to make their work life enjoyable it can still be hard to gain their respect. You have a tough job. You have to lead the team, listen and respond to the team and take the criticism of the team. Whilst this is going on you need to remain positive and act as a project leader should.

Gaining your team's respect is a very hard job. It can only be achieved through being consistent and delivering according to any promises that have been made. You need to follow through continually on what you have promised . No matter how fed up with things you are you need to be positive and lead from the front.

Although it is difficult, you need to re-establish continually all of the methods for building a team described in this chapter. There need to be a continual renewal and a continuing injection of fresh ideas. It is only through this re-establishment of authority and team player attitude that you will be able to be sure that a successful team is being developed.
