Running the project on a day-to-day basis is the job most project managers enjoy the most. Most do not like spending their time working through the paperwork necessary to get the project up and running. Nor do most project managers enjoy all the ongoing administration necessary to keep the project running. Instead typical project managers like this phase of the project where lots of work is progressing and they get to talk with those actually producing deliverables.
Although this can be one of the most hectic phases for the project manager it can also be one of the most rewarding . To ensure that everything goes as smoothly as possible there are a number of areas you need to work through:
What is the type of project that you are going to run?
What is the strategy for the execution of your project?
How will you implement the execution strategy?
How can you ensure that quality remains on the agenda?
Have you ensured that those involved clearly understand their role?
