Chapter 7: Load Management and Security

Overview

Security and load management are two of the most important features in MetaFrame XP. The load management feature of MetaFrame XP comes with the XPe or Xpa versions. XPs does not have load management capabilities. As the administrator of a MetaFrame server farm, you must understand the entire load management system. This process starts with the creation of load evaluators and ends with your users being routed to the least busy server hosting your applications.

However, as an administrator, you must also understand each of your security options. How each piece of the security puzzle is configured, how it works, and when to use it are keys to a successful deployment. Security, as described in this chapter, affects all revisions of MetaFrame XP, including XPs.
