In the preceding chapters you saw how to install Tomcat and how to carry out basic administration tasks. These are the day-to-day tasks that an administrator would carry out, but Tomcat has other features you may have to work with from time to time. This chapter will show you these features and how to use them.
You’ll see the following:
Access log administration
Request filtering
Single sign-on
JNDI resources
Session managers
The first three of these topics are common administration tasks. The others are built into Tomcat to allow developers to use their features. These are all part of the Servlet and JSP specifications as defined by Sun Microsystems, and, as the reference implementation, Tomcat must include them.
