Rate Your Songs

You can rate songs on a scale of one to five stars. The rating can be used to sort songs, create playlists, or as a criterion in creating Smart Playlists.

1.

If the "My Rating" column isn't showing in the iTunes window, Control-click on one of the column heads, then choose "My Rating" from the pop-up menu that appears. Or from the Edit menu, choose "View Options…," then click the "My Rating" checkbox.

2.

Click on a song you want to rate. Notice that five dots appear in the "My Rating" column.

3.

Click on the first dot to add a single star. Click dots further to the right to add more stars to your rating. You can also drag across the dots to add stars.

To sort the current songs by your rating, click the "My Rating" column heading. The order of songs will be rearranged with the highest-rated songs at the top of the list. To reverse the order of the list, click the small toggle triangle on the right side of the column heading.

You can also set a song's rating in the song information window. Select a song, then press Command I, or from the File menu choose "Get Info." Click the "Options" button, then set "My Rating" between one and five stars.
