Chapter 6. iDisk

When you become a .Mac member, you have instant access to your iDisk250 megabytes of personal storage (including email storage) on Apple's servers. You can upgrade your iDisk storage capacity at any time (for a fee), up to 1 gigabyte (1,024 megabytes).

Your .Mac account relies on iDisk to make its best features a reality: web pages, backup protection of important files, synchronization of address books with your Mac, customized iCards, online calendars, slideshow screen-savers, and whatever else Apple's innovative imagination may offer in the future.

You may want to use your iDisk to store files in a safe, remote location as personal backups or to store important files so you can retrieve them from any other location. Any files stored on your iDisk are accessible by you or (if you choose) a guest at any time, from almost any computer (Mac or PC).

Sharing files with others is effortless using iDisk Utility, a free -download from Mac.com. Just set permissions and give someone your .Mac name and password to allow them to upload or download files to your Public folder. iDisk Utility also makes it easy to monitor your iDisk space, access other .Mac members' Public folders, or purchase additional storage space.
