Chapter 14. CSA MC Administration and Maintenance

 < Day Day Up >

This chapter covers the following topics:

  • CSA licensing

  • CSA MC registration control

  • CSA MC component sharing

  • CSA MC role-based access control

  • Other CSA MC administrative features

  • CSA MC backup and restore procedures

The Cisco Security Agent (CSA) architecture is not unlike any other enterprise application in that you need a basic understanding of how to administer it and perform maintenance. The CSA Management Console (MC) uses a SQL database that you can back up and restore. It is imperative that the CSA MC server remains healthy and well tuned.

The CSA MC application contains several features that you can use to ease administration of a CSA deployment. There are also features related to controlling CSA agent registration, licensing, component sharing via import/export, and secure role-based access control. Finally, there are a group of features aimed at easing day-to-day administration, such as global and local help files, search tools, and remembered administrative preference settings. This chapter provides most of the necessary maintenance and administrative information required to have a successful CSA deployment.
