A successful project almost always relies heavily on the initial planning phases. It also relies on the direction of the project manager to ensure success criteria are adequately defined and met while remaining true to the implementation plan. It is very easy to be drawn in by other features and controls that are not part of the initial rollout; this is called scope creep.
