Troubleshooting


Problems can occur when you back up or restore servers. Table 14.2 lists some problems (and possible causes and solutions) that you may encounter when you perform two common procedures.

You can also use the backup log file, BACKUP.LOG, which resides in your Windows directory (e.g., \WINNT), as a diagnostic tool when you troubleshoot.

The Information Store will not start after restoring from backup.

The Information Store may need to be patched before it can be operational.

The Information Store may be corrupted. Execute the following command line: ISINTEG … PATCH.

The Information Store was restored to a different server.

After the restore, users cannot access the Information Store.

The restore was performed on a server in a different Windows domain than the original server.

Restore to a server in the same domain.
