Additional Features on the Installation CD

The SharePoint Portal Server 2003 installation CD includes a file titled ststpkpl.exe in its directory titled ststpkpl, which offers several other Web Parts that can add functionality to sites and Web Part pages.

To install, double-click the ststpkpl.exe program file on the hard disk to start the Setup program and then follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation. The Web Parts and Components are installed for the default server and all virtual servers already configured in SharePoint 2003.

After installation, the new Web Parts are managed in the Virtual Server Gallery, and the new ones made available are

Some additional tools are provided in the Support\Tools subdirectory. The ToolsHowTo. txt file in the same directory provides more information on how to use these tools and points out that these tools are unsupported by Microsoft and are provided without warranty. These include:

• CATUTIL.EXE Use this tool to list site IDs for all portal sites, move content indexes, move property store files, and delete indexes.

• FILTDUMP.EXE Use this tool to view the appearance of a document when it is filtered. The tool only works for files (that is, it does not work for URLs).

• GTHRLOG.VBS Use this Visual Basic script file to view the gatherer log.

• LRTEST.EXE The Language Resource Test Tool allows the loading of word breakers, stemmers, and filters so that the user can see the output of these resources given specific input.

• PLEX.EXE Use this tool for document libraries (Web Storage System-based) to view document properties in the Web Storage System.

• SPSINDEXBACKUPVERIFIER.EXE No information available on this tool.

• TIFF_OCR_ON.REG You can enable optical character recognition (OCR) when crawling TIFF files.
