Updating Your Mac OS X Installation

As with the other software it produces, Apple frequently updates Mac OS X to improve security and reliability, fix bugs, add minor features, and so on. After you have installed and configured Mac OS X version 10.4, you should immediately check for and install updates to the OS and Apple applications that have been released since the version you installed. When you first start up under Mac OS X version 10.4, Software Update launches automatically. If it doesn't for some reason, or if you want to launch it manually, choose Apple menu, Software Update. In either case, use the Software Update tool to perform the update.
