  • On the View menu, click AutoPreview.

To reply to the sender of a message

  • With the message you want to reply to selected or open, on the toolbar, click the Reply button.

To reply to the sender and all recipients of a message

  • With the message you want to reply to selected or open, on the toolbar, click the Reply to All button.

To forward a message

  • With the message you want to forward selected or open, on the toolbar, click the Forward button.

To create a new message from the Inbox

  • On the toolbar, click the New Mail Message button.

To create a new message from any Outlook folder

  1. Click the down arrow to the right of the New button.

  2. On the drop-down menu, click Mail Message.

To display the All Mail Folders list

  • On the Navigation Pane, click the Mail icon.

To address a message

  • Type the recipient's e-mail address in the To box, or click the To button and select a name from the Address Book.

To send a message

  1. Compose and address the e-mail message you want to send.

  2. On the message form's toolbar, click the Send button.

To add an entry to the Address Book

  1. On the Tools menu, click Address Book.

  2. Click the New Entry button.

  3. In the New Entry dialog box, click New Contact.

  4. In the Put this entry drop-down list, click the address book to which you want to add the contact, and then click OK.

  5. In the Untitled - Contact dialog box, type the information you want to save for this contact, and then click Save and Close.

To create a distribution list

  1. On the Tools menu, click Address Book.

  2. Click the New Entry button.

  3. In the New Entry dialog box, click New Distribution List.

  4. In the Put this entry drop-down list, click the address book to which you want to add the distribution list, and then click OK.

  5. In the Untitled - Distribution List dialog box, in the Name box, type the name of the distribution list.

  6. To add distribution list members from an existing address book, click the Select Members button. In the Select Members dialog box, select the contacts you want to add to the distribution list, and then click OK.

  7. To add new distribution list members, click the Add New button. In the Add New Member dialog box, type the display name and e-mail address of the new contact, select the Add to Contacts check box if you want, and then click OK.

  8. Click Save and Close.

To attach a file to a message

  1. With the message open, on the toolbar, click the Insert File button.

  2. In the Insert File dialog box, browse to the file you want to attach, click the file, and then click the Insert button.

To check for new messages

  • On the toolbar, click the Send/Receive button.

To delete a message

  1. Select the message.

  2. On the toolbar, click the Delete button.

To print a message

  1. Select or open the message you want to print.

  2. On the toolbar, click the Print button.

To turn on smart tags for instant messaging

  1. On the Tools menu click Options.

  2. In the Options dialog box, click the Other tab.

  3. In the Person Names area, select the Enable the Person Names Smart Tag and Display Messenger Status in the From field check boxes.

  4. Click OK.

To send an instant message from an e-mail message

  1. Open a message to or from your instant messaging contact.

  2. In the message header, click the Person Names Smart Tag next to the contact's name, and then on the shortcut menu click Send Instant Message.
