The planning process is key to a successful implementation of SMS. Understanding SMS, assessing the current environment, and performing a needs analysis make up the first stage in planning. An SMS design is created and resources are allocated to complete the design. After the design is created, it must be tested thoroughly prior to deployment.

The most effective way to use this chapter is to apply the information within it to an SMS implementation in your organization. With the knowledge you have gained so far in this training manual, you should be prepared to build an effective plan to deploy SMS.
