Integration Approaches

A number of different approaches are successfully used for integrating applications. The differences between these types of EAI are based on where the integration occurs. The most common strategies and points of integration include the following:

• User interface
• Data sources
• Application Programming Interfaces (APIs)
• Business logic or methods

A plan for application integration within a company might well use several of these approaches as needed. Depending on the existing applications in use, some of these techniques are difficult or impossible.
