The MAGIC Services Protocol Version 2.0 (MSP 2.0) consists of eight service categories. Each service has one or more functions. Each function has two parameters. Each is an XML document described in an officially recognized schema written in XML Schema Language and available for reference on the http://www.MAGICServicesForum.org/Registry/ site. The first parameter is a request document and the second is a response document.
In addition to an internal set of base schemas accepted by the MAGIC Services Initiative, there are additional external schemas developed by other groups active in LBMS delivery and the positioning of mobile devices. Each service provider must support the MSP 2.0 base schemas. Optionally each service provider may support some, none, or all external schemas, and also may support private schemas.
Each service is described by a WSDL file located in the MSP 2.0 Registry at http://www.MAGICServicesForum.org/Registry/Interfaces/.
