Chapter 2 - Modifying a Report
Mastering Crystal Reports 9
by Cate McCoy and Gord Maric
Sybex 2003

The Crystal Decisions team has put together an excellent support structure for Crystal Reports. In addition to the searchable help file and the context-sensitive help available from the menu and the F1 key, three additional help files are provided with information specific to the version of Crystal Reports you purchased:

  • Standard edition

  • Professional edition

  • Developer edition

All of the installed help files and even the web-based help are available from the Help menu, as shown in Figure 2.21.

Tip

The help file opens in its own window in Stay-On-Top mode. To continue working in the report designer with the help file open, minimize it to return to the Crystal Reports designer.

You can find the Crystal Decisions support online as well at support.crystaldecisions.com, where you’ll find a wealth of information in their knowledge base. Before calling the support team or searching the knowledge base, check to see what version of Crystal you’re running since many of the help documents are categorized by version. You can find this information at Help > About Crystal Reports; the product version is listed at the top of the dialog, as shown in Figure 2.22.

In addition, you can click the More Info button in the Help area to display information on modules currently loaded into memory at runtime. This may be useful when you’re talking online or on the phone with the Crystal Care support team.
