WS-Agreement

Document:

Web Services Agreement Specification (WS-Agreement)

Purpose:

To specify a runtime mechanism by which

  • a service advertises the capabilities that can be the basis of an agreement

  • a requester comes to an agreement with the service for a specified duration

  • the agreement is monitored for compliance

The agreement might measure the expected number of requests and the allowed response time for each request in accordance with the network resources available at the time of agreement. The service (acting as a requester of other services) also might use the WS-Agreement mechanism to update agreements with other services in response to changing requester demand, much as a manufacturer updates agreements with suppliers in response to changing consumer demand.

WS-Agreement has not been widely adopted but is likely to become important.
