Saving a Version and Exporting It As a PDF/X-1aCompliant File

Instead of saving the file, you want to create a new version of the InDesign file (so that you can track these changes later, or even revert to the original version, if you'd like). Choose File, Save a Version and enter a comment that describes the changes you've made.

To send the ad to the publisher, you'll want to export a PDF/X-1acompliant file. With the file still open in InDesign, choose File, PDF Export Presets, [PDF/X-1a:2001] to export your file as a PDF/X-1acompliant file (see Figure 14.21).
