Chapter 10. Using Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional

Adobe has taken Acrobat to the next level, adding more features and addressing performance and user interface issues. Adobe has divided the program into two main versions, Standard and Professional, but this chapter covers the Professional version that is part of the Premium version of Adobe Creative Suite. PDF (Portable Document Format), or .pdf, is a file type you see almost anywhere on the Web. This fabulous format is easily read by any computer system. If you don't have Reader, you can download it free. Many web designers use Acrobat to create their PDF files, add forms to their websites, and add a reviewing/commenting system to multiple-page documents. Additionally, designers and printers can use Acrobat 7.0 Professional to preflight and touch up files for final printing.

What's New in Acrobat 7.0 Professional?

If you have used Acrobat before, here is a quick overview of what is new in Acrobat 7.0 Professional: faster performance; the capability to enable PDF files so that Adobe Reader users can add comments; a file organizer to better manage your PDF files; the capability to save or export PDF files to a variety of formats; integrated Yahoo! Internet search; enhanced print production tools, including an ink manager and the capability to perform RGB to CMYK conversion; and the capability to preserve and view object-level metadata in placed objects and CAD files.
