Chapter 24. Migration

Not all database-driven applications are based on PostgreSQL. Many people are not satisfied with their database solutions, so new solutions have to be found. PostgreSQL is the perfect database for migration. Because of its ANSI SQL compliance, its embedded languages, and its ability to work with transactions, PostgreSQL is the desired playground of every database developer.

This chapter is dedicated to those who want to migrate their applications from MySQL, Oracle, or Microsoft Access to PostgreSQL. Of course, there are many other databases that can be substituted for PostgreSQL, but that is beyond the scope of this book.
