About the Author

David Francis, PMP, is one of the lead authors of the original PMP Exam Cram 2 book and has been a project manager and business analyst for more than 10 years. He has worked as a consultant, instructor, and writer for the analysis, design, development, and implementation of complex projects and programs. Projects have included working with companies such as Dow Chemical, EDS, Cisco Systems, SBC, Clarian Healthcare, RCI, Capgemini, and other Fortune 500 companies.

David teaches certification, undergraduate and graduate Project Management classes as an adjunct faculty member at Indiana Institute of Technology, Keller Graduate School of Management, and Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. He serves as the Director of Education for the Project Management Institute (PMI), Central Indiana Chapter and has contributed to the success of numerous educational opportunities for the chapter. David has provided curriculum development and delivery of Project Management educational programs to thousands of students and for clients including Eli Lilly and Company, Ameritech, Rolls Royce, Covance, Vifi, Conseco Insurance, Praxair, and other organizations. He has also developed and taught numerous PMP certification classes and frequently sponsors new PMP study groups and programs.

David's educational background includes an MBA from Butler University and a BA from Indiana University. Certifications include Project Management Professional Certification (PMP), IT Programming Competency Certification, Microsoft Office Suite Certification, Project Management Certification (IUPUI), and Microsoft Project Software Certification.

About the Coauthors

Sara Strock, PMP, MBA, holds an MBA from The Ohio State University, an AAS from Ivy Tech State College in Indianapolis, and a bachelor's degree in music from Bowling Green State University.

Sara has worked in the IT field for more than 20 years, participating in and managing projects in a variety of industries including insurance, pharmaceutical, banking, travel, manufacturing, and financial. Her projects have ranged in business disciplines from customer relationship management (CRM) to security. Sara obtained her PMP certification in 2001, and is an active member of her local PMI chapter. She is currently working in a Project Management office for an insurance company.

As an author, Sara has published articles ranging from job hunting to spirituality, as well as tech editing several books for Que Publishing.

Emelee N. Mitchum, PMP, MBA, is a PMP-certified IT consulting manager with more than eight years of consulting experience. Her background includes three years in group benefits consulting and sales and five years in the IT industry. Her primary areas of professional expertise include

  • Business process reengineering

  • Package implementation

  • Project Management and leadership

She is currently working as a project manager on a PeopleSoft Benefits Administration project for a hospital in Cincinnati through an Indianapolis consulting firm.

Emelee's educational background includes an MBA from Indiana University and a bachelor's degree in mathematics from DePauw University. In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering with the Junior League of Indianapolis and traveling.
