This appendix describes each of the search operators that can be passed to Verity in the CRITERIA parameter of a <CFSEARCH> tag. See Chapter 34, "Full-Text Searching," for details on incorporating Verity into your Macromedia ColdFusion MX applications.

This is not meant as an exhaustive reference. You should consult your ColdFusion documentation for each operator's precise definition and syntax. Verity's Web site (www.verity.com) is also a good resource for information regarding the syntax and impact of the search operators discussed here. The site offers many FAQs and examples of search syntax in action. Just keep in mind that Verity's search functionality does not only pertain to ColdFusion. You will find references to features that you won't encounter as a ColdFusion developer.
