The Flash MX workspace is similar to Fireworks MX and Dreamweaver MX. So if you are new to Flash MX but familiar with one of the other applications, you will get acclimated quickly. The work area in Flash is called the Stage whereas in the other applications its called the Document Window. Even if you are new to using the Macromedia Studio MX applications, the new interface is intuitive and easy to use. You'll be zipping around the panels and tools in no time at all. In this chapter, you explore the main interface features and where to find the tools you'll need. The Flash MX interface has changed dramatically since version 5. The panel system is streamlined and a Property inspector has been added, which gives you access to what used to be nine different panels, in one location. As you select a tool, the Property inspector changes to reflect the properties of the selected tool.
