Although this is not a chapter on disaster recovery, this section covers the requirements for restoring an SSP if it becomes corrupted or is lost. The process to restore an SSP consists of two separate steps:
Restore the SSP Web application and its database.
Point the SSP at the restored Web application.
More Info | For information on disaster recovery and the process used to restore a Web application and its databases, see Chapter 30, "Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 Disaster Recovery." |
After the Web application has been restored with its databases, you can then restore the SSP to use the Web application. Follow these steps to restore an SSP:
On the Manage This Farm's Shared Services page, click Restore SSP.
On the Restore The Shared Services Provider page, complete the required fields as if you were creating a new SSP. However, for the Web application and Database fields, select the restored Web application and database from your standard restore procedure. Click OK.
Note | It does not matter whether you choose to give the restored SSP a new title name, but you must select the restored Web application and database as previously used. |
