In this chapter, we shared with you some of the lessons we learned when talking with companies that have introduced Linux on the mainframe. Getting started with Linux on the mainframe is easy. We discussed building a team and the importance of choosing a suitable small project to start with. We mentioned cost and break-even considerations. Customers tell us that Linux on the mainframe helps them streamline operations and simplify management. The mainframe might be more cost-efficient and easier to run than a physical server farm.
