C.6. Clients and Libraries

--with-cifsmount

Enable building the Linux cifs mount helper tools (mount.cifs and umount.cifs ). You can find more information about the Linux cifs filesystem in Chapter 11.

--with-libmsrpc

Create the static and shared version (if supported on the platform) of a Remote Procedure Call (RPC) client library.

--with-libsmbclient

Create the static and shared version (if supported on the platform) of an SMB/CIFS client library.

--with-libsmbsharemodes

Create the static and shared versions (if supported on the platform) of a library that allows file services outside of smbd to access Samba's share mode database. This option allows for integrating SMB/CIFS file locking with other file-sharing protocols, such as NetWare.

--with-smbmount

Enable building the user-space utilities for mounting the Linux smbfs filesystem. Note that the cifs filesystem has made smbfs obselete.

--with-static-modules= modules

--with-shared-modules= modules

Enable a list of plug-ins to be built as static features inside of Samba or as external share libraries. The primary use of these options is to build Winbind's idmap_rid and idmap_ad modules as shared libraries. More about Winbind and idmap backends can be found in Chapter 10.
