27.4. Conclusion

Design for the ZoneAlarm product line can be best summed up by two things: identify and study the target audience, and apply that knowledge to the design. Following these principles doesn't guarantee great design, but without them, design fails. There is no question that designing usable security is difficult, and no company I've seen, including Zone Labs, does it flawlessly. By reading this book, you are benefiting from the research and experience of all of us and will be well prepared to join us in this ongoing battle to protect computer users of every kind from Internet-borne threats.
