Acknowledgments

From Randy Cornish:

I'd like to thank the following people for their part in getting this book out in a very short time frame.

First, I'd like to thank my co-authors, Thomas Moore, Don Pavoni, and Eric Rockenbach. Without your work, this book would have taken much longer, and the finished product would not be nearly as valuable to the readers. Your tireless work to meet tough deadlines and your creative input were great additions.

I'd like to thank a few people at Que. First, I'd like to thank Jeff Riley, the acquisitions editor, for allowing me to reprise my role from the 70-100 exam prep book. It's nice to be welcomed back. I wonder if there'll ever be a 70-500 exam? Next, I'd like to thank Lisa Lord, the copy editor, whose grammar and structural corrections made the book actually readable (she's probably even going to correct this sentence). Finally, I'd like to thank Susan Zahn, who served as development editor. The development editor gets to put up with my panicked e-mails, silly questions, and inane status updates. I worked with your husband, Chris, on the 70-100 book, and you both share some of the same qualities that make the author's job easier and the end result better.

I'd like to thank my co-workers at Allstate. You've put up with my rambling sense of humor and an endless supply of analogies every day. Be assured that part of you is in this work. I'd especially like to thank Karyn, our team leader, for creating a positive work environment and for holding a place at the table for me when I took a forced sabbatical after an auto accident.

Again, as with the last book, the ones who feel the greatest burden of my writing chores are my wife and my daughter, Crystal and Mandy. So many nights and weekends start with the phrase, "I have to finish this chapter…." Even after two books and numerous magazine articles, you still smile when you say, "Why do you do this?"

From Thomas Moore:

I would like to thank my wife, Joy, for her everlasting love, patience, and support throughout my varied projects. Without Joy's backing, projects as involved as this could never be completed. I would also like to thank Randy, the lead author, as he has brought me through the toughest parts of the process with his endless persistence. Thanks to the entire Que team, as in publishing a book, there are many hands whose contributions often go unnoticed.

From Don Pavoni:

First, I'd like to thank Randy Cornish for giving me the opportunity to help author this book. There were some times during the process I wished I had "just said no," especially when working at 2 or 3 in the morning, but overall, I'm happy to have had the experience.

I'd also like to use this forum to acknowledge some special people in my life. To my brother Dino, his wife, Debbie, and all the kids, seeing your strength and courage the past few months after losing Dominick has been truly amazing.

To my Aunt Lorraine, your dedication to your children is truly inspiring. To my sister Kim, your energy and positive attitude, despite your own health issues and trying to go back to college at your advanced age, makes you a great role model to others. To my Dad, thanks for always being there for me, and if you want to tell people you helped author this book, go right ahead.

I'd especially like the chance to acknowledge my 93-year-old grandmother, Rose Pavoni. You are truly a special person and have been such a great influence on me and all of your 30-plus descendants. I'll be by soon to play some cards.

Finally, to my wife, Judy, and my boys, Brian and Tim, I know this book-writing experience wasn't easy for you guys, and I appreciate your understanding.

Also, if I missed anyone, I'm sorry and I'll get to you in the next book.

From Eric Rockenbach:

I acknowledge the technology role models Jim Fugelestad, Akil Franklin, Ferdy Khater, and Prasad Boppana for giving me the challenge and opportunity needed to succeed.
